Kil-Kare Dragway Season Opener
Kil-Kare Dragway opened this last
Saturday for the first drag race of 2009; over 160 vehicles were in
attendance for the season opener. In the Super Pro Quarter finals it
would be Rob Stacy of New Carlisle dialing a 5.33 to the 5.08 of Josh
Morgan. The Stacy dragster would leave early, giving the win to Josh
Morgan of New Carlisle who ran a 5.078. The next pair would be Jarrod
Steen of South Charleston against James Emrick of Tipp City. Steen would
dial a 5.48 to the 6.44 o f Emrick. Emrick would be better at the tree
with a .514 reaction time, coupled with a 6.444 run for the win light.
Dean Karns of Fairborn would face Jack Duty Jr of Vandalia. Karns dialed
a 5.02 to the 4.90 of Duty. The reaction time battle was very close,
with only .003 difference at the tree; Duty would have the better light.
Jack would make the pass with a 4.908 and would take the win light. Dave
Cox had the bye run into the semis. In the finals it would be Cox dialing 5.58 to the 6.43 of Emrick. At the tree the difference would be .0018 with Cox having the better light a .505. At the stripe it would be Cox with the win light on a 5.605 run over a breaking out Emrick.
In the Pro class it would be Dennis
Brineagar of Dayton against IDDU’s Phil Borton of Urbana. Both racers
would leave a bit early at the line but it was Borton first, moving
Brineagar to the semis. Next was Michael Roberts of Huber Heights
against Nick Davis of Moraine. Roberts had a 6.44 on the dial to the
6.80 of Davis. Roberts would have the better light with a .525 and would
take the win with a 6.481 run. Jack Spivey had the Bye run into the
semis. In the Pro finals it would be Brineagar dialing a 7.01 to the 6.43 of Roberts. Brineagar would leave early, making Michael Roberts the winner. In the Sportsman quarter finals it would be Mike Stugill of Beavercreek dialing a 14.86 to the 16.01 of Joe Cloran of Fairborn. Sturgill was better at the tree with a .602 light, and would take the win with a 14.948 run. Next would be Aaron Sprauer of Kettering dialing an 18.45 to the 12.59 of Howard Ledford of Kettering. Sprauer would have the advantage off the starting line with a .515 light, but would give it back by breaking out at the finish line, making Ledford the winner with a 12.600 run. The last pair for the round would be Dan Trainer of Lockbourne dialing a 12.00 facing Steve Collier of Dayton dialing a 16.52. Trainer would be better at the tree with a .538 light, and would hold the advantage to the stripe taking the double breakout win with an 11.971 pass. In the semis it would be Trainer
dialing a 12.00 to the 12.59 of Ledford. Ledford would be better with a
.529 on the tree, but the double breakout win would go to Trainer who
went an 11.894. Mike Sturgill had the bye. In the Pro Bike Class it would be Homer
England of West Chester dialing a 9.80 to the 9.48 of Bob Nugent. At the
tree it would be England with a .514 for the advantage. The finish line
would see Nugent with the win light on a 9.506 run. Next would be Dave
Beavers of Urbana dialing a 9.38 to the 9.54 of Kevin Hoskins of
Cincinnati. At the tree it would be Hoskins with a .519 for the
advantage, but it would be Beavers with the double breakout win running
a 9.357. The last pair for the round would be Thad Neeld of St. Paris
dialing a 9.44 against Jeremy England of West Chester dialing a 10.03.
The Starting line advantage would go to Neeld with a .518 light, and
would hold it to the finish line with a 9.559 for the win. In the finals for pro bike it would be Beavers dialing a 9.30 to the 9.47 of Nugent. There was only .0022 difference with Beavers getting a .531 light; the win went to Beavers with a 9.370 run. Kevin Hoskins of
Cincinnati did double duty in the street bike class getting the
inaugural win with an 18.839 run for the win. In the finals it would be Turley dialing an 8.90 to the 9.11 of Northup. Northup had the better light, but it would be Turley with the double breakout win, going 8.886. In the 8-9 Class it would be Michael
Roberts of New Carlisle facing Byron Pitts of Urbana. Pitts would go red
moving Roberts to the finals. Next up would be Shelby Stacy of New
Carlisle dialing a 12.90 to the 13.00 of Kyle Beavers of Urbana. Lil’
Beav would get the better light with a .739 and would take the win with
a 13.211.
