            Memorial Day Weekend at Kil-Kare saw over 380 racers show for the first ever Buckeye Five event at Kil-Kare. Racers from as far away as Montana made the trip to battle for over $37,000 in purse for Three days of Drag Racing action at the famed Xenia facility. Fans were delighted by the sights and sounds from the competitors as well as musical performances by Slab and Neon Country on Saturday and Sunday night. In Saturdays racing action Box Class Quarter Finals would see Chris Schneider of Belleville Michigan dialing a 5.01 to the 5.76 of Tony McFall of Tipp City. Schneider would get the better reaction time with a .510 and would take the win light with a 5.048. Next would be Bob Tidwell of Dayton on the bye run. The last pair for the round would be Matt Hornbickle of Flatwoods, Ky dialing a 5.03 to the 5.63 of Kathy Wuilleumier of Milford , Ohio. Hornbickle would get the better light with a .571 and would take the win with a 5.180 run.
            In the semis it would be Hornbickle on the bye run to the finals, Schnider and Tidwell would battle to see who would make to face him. Schnider dialed a 5.01 to the 5.67 of Tidwell. Tidwell would cut a .501 light, however it would be Schnider with a 5.017 run for the win.
            In the finals it would be Schnider dialing a 5.01 to the 5.02 of Hornbickle. Hornbickle would have the better light with a .526, however it would be Schnider with a 5.009 for the double breakout win.
            In Saturdays No Box Class quarter Finals it would be Gary may of Indianapolis, In dialing a 6.94 to the 7.06 of Doug Caplinger of Xenia. Caplinger would get a better reaction time with a .507 and would take the stripe with a 7.705 for the win light. Next would be Michael Roberts of Huber Heights dialing a 6.45 to the 6.43 of Bryan Merkle of Johnstown, Oh.  Merkle would get the better reaction time with a .535 and would take the breakout win with a 6.466. Next would be Matt Antrobius of Bellbrook dialing a 7.25 to the 7.14 of the IDDU’s Phil Borton of Urbana. Borton would get the better light with a .547 and would take the double breakout win with a 7.111. In the semis it would be Merkle against Caplinger. Merkle would go red moving Caplinger to the finals to face bye runner Phil Borton.
            In the finals it would be Borton dialing a 7.10 to the 7.05 of Caplinger. Borton would receive the better light by .004 which made a close race to the line, Borton would take the win with a 7.117.
            In Saturdays Bike class quarter finals it would be Joe Deck of Morningview, Ky dialing an 8.33 to the 10.77 of Steve Withem of Fairborn. Withem would cut a .503 light but it would be Deck with the win light after an 8.833 ride. Next would be Larry hunter of Xenia dialing a 9.27 against Jeremy England of West Chester dialing a 9.98. Hunter would get the better reaction with a .510 and would take the win with a 9.301 ride. Next up would be Michael Nugent of Tipp City dialing a 9.61 against Homer England of West Chester dialing a 9.84. Nugent would knock down the tree with a .501 reaction time, and would take the win with a 9.619 ride. Thad Neeld of St. Paris had the bye run to the semis.
            In the Semis it would be Hunter against Deck. Hunter would dial a 9.24 to the 8.85 of Deck. Deck would get the better reaction time with a .505 and would ride to the win light with an 8.953. The last pair for the semis would be Nugent dialing a 9.58 to the 9.47 of Neeld. Nugent would get the starting line advantage with a .536, and would ride to the win light with a 9.666 pass.
            In the finals it would be Nugent dialing a 9.61 against Deck dialing an 8.84. Once again Nugent would have the better reaction time with a .530, and would take the class win with a 9.618 ride.
           

        In Sunday’s Box Class it would be Evan Kirk of Waynesville dialing a 4.82 to the 6.12 of Steve Royalty of Franklin, Oh. Kirk would get the better light with a .530 but it would be Royalty with the breakout win on a 6.143 run. Next up would be Boomer Ellison dialing a 5.07 to the 5.55 of Stephanie Beyer both of Beavercreek. Beyer would cut the better light with a .529 but would breakout giving Ellison the win on a 5.071run. Scott Richardson of Barbourville, Ky. had the bye run into the semis.
            In the semis it would be Ellison dialing a 5.07 against Royalty dialing a 4.81. Richardson would have the better reaction time with a .511 and would get the breakout win over Ellison with a 4.833 run. Royalty would have the bye to the finals.
            In the finals it would be Royalty and Richardson. Royalty would go red and that gave the win to Richardson who would run a 4.805.
            In Sunday’s No Box class quarter finals it would be Mike McKinney of Richmond, In dialing a 6.56 to the 6.17 of Mark Griffith of New Carlisle. McKinney would get the better reaction time with a .517 and would get the breakout win light with a 6.591 run. Next would be Dennis Brineagar of Dayton, dialing a 7.10 against the 7.30 of Matt Antrobius of Bellbrook. Antrobius would have mechanical problems and Brineagar would take the win with a 7.440 run. The last pair for the race would be Josh Epperson of Barbourville, Ky dialing a 7.62 against the 6.46 of Bryan Merkle of Johnstown, Oh. Epperson would get the better reaction time with a .518 and would get the double breakout win with a 7.604 run.
            In the semis it would be Brineagar on the bye run to the finals. Epperson would dial a 7.60 to the 6.56 of McKinney to see who would face Brineagar. Epperson had the better light with a .549 but would take too much stripe breaking out, and giving the win to McKinney with a 6.587 run.
            No Box finals saw McKinney dialing a 6.56 to the 7.10 of Brineagar. McKinney would get the better reaction time with a .544, and would take the breakout win with a 6.618 over Brineagar.
            Sunday’s Bike class saw Thad Neeld of St. Paris dial a 9.52 to the 9.21 of Nathan Thatcher of Dayton. Reaction times were only .0001 apart with the advantage going to Thatcher, who would follow up with the win light after a 9.241 ride. Next would be Bob Nugent of Trotwood dialing a 9.48 to the 9.72 of Bill Camp of Xenia. Camp would take the reaction time battle with a .518, however it would be Nugent with a 9.469 for the double breakout win to advance. Next would be Joe Deck of Morningview, Ky. dialing an 8.89 against the 10.82 of Steve Withem of Fairborn. Deck would go red and Withem would advance to the semis. Larry Hunter of Xenia had the bye run into the semis.
            Bike class semis would see Hunter dial a 9.28 to the 10.81 of Withem. Hunter would get the better light with a .512. Both riders would breakout; however it would be Hunter moving on with a 9.271 ride. Next would be Nugent dialing a 9.46 to the 9.21 of Thatcher. Nugent would get the better reaction time with a .515, but once again both riders would go too fast, Thatcher would get the win light with a 9.197 run.
            In the finals it would be Hunter dialing a 9.26 to the 9.19 of Thatcher. Thatcher would take the win light with a 9.205 ride.

            Monday would see the final day of racing for the Memorial Day Buckeye Fives, in the Box Class quarterfinals it would be Brian Lampton of Calro, Oh dialing a 5.13 to the 4.83 of Michael Sturgill of Beavercreek. Sturgill would go red moving Lampton to the next round. Next would be Chris Moore of Greenup, Ky dialing a 4.81 to the 5.99 of Doug Miller of Christainsburg, In. Moore would get a .504 for the better reaction time and would take the win with a 4.826 run. Next would be Paula Homan of Pataskala dialing a 5.14 to the 5.24 of Brent Angles of Hillsboro. Holman would get the better light with a .504 and would take the win light with a 5.142 run. The last pair for the round would be Ken Sullivan of West Carrolton dialing a 5.03 to the 5.01 of Steve Hughes of Murraysville, Pa. Sullivan would get the better reaction time with a .512 however it would be Hughes with a 5.014 run for the win light.
            In the semis it would be Lampton dialing a 5.13 to the 4.82 of Moore. Lampton went red and that moved Moore to the finals. Next would be Holman dialing a 5.14 to the 5.01 of Hughes. Hughes would get the better light with a .518 but it would be Holman with the win on the 5.156 run.
            In the finals it would be Moore dialing a 4.81 to the 5.15 of Holman. Holman would get the better light with a .507 and would take the class win with a 5.154.
            In Monday’s No Box class it would be Aaron McCall of Tiffin dialing a 6.70 to the 6.41 of Wayne Adams of Hamilton. McCall would cut a .510 for the advantage, and would take the win light with a 6.710 run. Next would be IDDU’s Gwayne Honeycutt from Urbana dialing a 6.30 to the 6.83 of Bill Livesay from Fairborn. Livesay would go red moving Honeycutt to the next round. Tyler Scheider of Belleville, Mi. had the bye run to the semis.
            In the semis Honeycutt would dial a 6.31 to the 6.56 of Scheider. Honeycutt would get the better light with a .531 and Scheider would breakout moving Honeycutt to the finals to face Bye runner Aaron McCall.
            In the finals Honeycutt would go red and McCall would take the win with a 6.698 run.
            In Monday’s Bike Class quarters it would be Thad Neeld of St. Paris dialing a 9.52 against the 9.91 of Jeremy England of West Chester. Neeld would get the better light with a .516 and would take the win with a 9.616 run. Next would be Bob Nugent of Trotwood dialing a 9.45 to the 9.28 of Larry Hunter of Xenia. Hunter would get the better light with a .506 and would take the win with a 9.286 ride. Up next would be Jesse Sowers of Urbana dialing a 9.74 to the 9.15 of Nathan Thatcher of Dayton. Sowers would get a .511 for the better reaction time; however it would be Thatcher with the win light with a 9.219 ride. The last pair for the round would be Dad and Lad, Bradley Shellhaas (Lad) dialing an 8.96 to the 9.43 of Brad Shellhaas (Dad). Bradley would get the better reaction time with a .541 and would put his own father on the trailer for the day with an 8.943 double breakout win.
            In the semis it would be Neeld against Shellhaas. Neeld would dial a 9.52 to the 8.94 of Shellhaas. Shellhaas would cut a .503 for the better light, and would take the win with an 8.950 ride. Next would be Hunter and Thatcher. Hunter would go red and move Thatcher to the finals.
            In the finals it would be Shellhaas and Thatcher. Shellhaas dialed an 8.94 to the 9.19 of Thatcher. Thatcher would be better at the tree with a .512 and would take the win again with a 9.204 run.
