Xenia, OH. (4/22) -  It was a great night for racing Friday night at Kil-Kare Speedway for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series events for a full program of regular events plus the first appearance of the season of the FAST Legend Cars.

The super fast late models were led to the green in their 30 lap feature by polesitter Bill Burba and Jeff Marsh as Burba took command with Don Mahaffey and previous weeks winner Justin Alsip right behind as Marsh faded back.  Alsip worked the rear bumper of Mahaffey but here came Ricky Bates moving up on the second and third place running cars. Burba continued to set the pace as the trio battled behind him. with Virgil Powell a distant fifth. At the halfway  it was still Burba in the lead as Alsip finally passed Mahaffey and then set sail for Burba who had a good lead. Lap nineteen saw Virgil Powell bring out the first caution as he spun on turn four. Burba again set sail on the restart  but Alsip tried the inside going into turn four when he made contact with Burba, spinning him with Alsip sent to the tail.

Ten laps remained on the restart Burba kept his West Chester Permit Service sponsored machine out front with Mahaffey a car length behind. Virgil Powell had advanced to third after passing Scott Drake but Drake reclaimed third. At the checker it was Burba just barely beating runner-up Mahaffey with Drake third, with Powell fourth and Bobby Justus fifth,

In the first late model heat it was former street stock driver Mel McMullen and Virgil Powell leading the pack to the green with Franklin's Powell taking the lead as McMullen faded to fifth. Ricky Bates moved up behind Powell trailed by Don Mahaffey and Justin Alsip and that is the way they received the checker.

The second heat had Andy Peterson and Jamie Sites in the front row and again it was a former sport stock driver charging out front as Sites took the lead with Sam Heckman passing Peterson for second with Scott  Drake third as tail end starter Sloan Henderson moved up to fourth. At the checker it was Sites over Heckman, Drake, and Sloan.

The modifieds lined up for their thirty lap feature with fast timer Greg Stapleton and former legend car driver Tyler Nuckles on the front row. Stapleton held a small lead over Nuckles on the first lap and then took control of the front spot  with Nuckles second while a distance back Reschar, Jerry Stapleton, and Jason Mahaffey had a battle for positions. Jerry Stapleton got around Reschar for third with Reschar spinning when Jack Jones made contact with him with Jones sent to the tail.

On the restart Stapleton held on to his lead with Nuckles right on his rear bumper. At the halfway it was still Greg Stapleton leading Nuckles, Jerry Stapleton, Reschar, and Jason Mahaffey. behind Mahaffey previous weeks winner Dick Dunlevy tried to catch Mahaffey when contact was made with Mahaffey spinning and Dunlevy sent to the tail. again Greg Stapleton stayed in front of Nuckles on the restart with Jerry Stapleton a close third. The real battle was for fifth as Mahaffey had his hands full holding off Mike Carrol with Jack Jones right behind. At the checker it was Greg Stapleton in the B&B Gear and Machine special taking the win over Nuckles, Jerry Stapleton with Caleb Reschar fourth and Mahaffey hanging on to place fifth. Unfortunateky Nuckles car did not pass post race inspection thus he was credited with last place.

The open-wheeled modifieds saw Caleb Reschar and like the late models, a former sport stock driver Mike South Jr. in the front row. Urbana"so Reschar took the lead as Jerry Stapleton shot into second and Jason Mahaffey rode third. Reschar held off the challenges of Stapleton until the white flag as Stapleton charged under Reschar to take the win with Reschar a close second followed by Mahaffey and South.

The young lady driver, Jamie Brenneman of Beavercreek and Joe Jennings held the front row in the second heat . It was side by side the first lap but sneaky Dick Dun Jr. moved on the inside to take the lead with Mike Carroll right behind. Dunlevy took the win followed by Carrol, Breneman, and Joe Jennings.

Mike South Sr. took the lead at the drop of the green in the sport stock feature with Ray Muncy and Travis Diggs right behind. Diggs tried to muster up enough horsepower to catch Muncy but Muncy wouldn't yield as South continued to lead with Muncy a car length behind. At the checker it was South taking the win over Muncy and Diggs.

The FAST legend cars saw Dustin Sword and Jeff Denny bring the field to the green  with Sword taking the lead but it wasn't long before veteran Toby Alfrey was in front only to see the caution fly on lap six. Alfrey set the pace on the restart followed by Sword, Travis Braden and Kyle Baugh. The green only lasted half a lap when two cars spun on the backstretch. Alfrey had the lead on the restart but Bryan Nuckles shot under him on turn four to steal the lead with Alfrey riding right on his tail with James Edsall running third. Alfrey would not give up as he kept trying to regain the lead but Nuckles was not about to give it up. Lap seventeen saw alfrey drop out with mechanical woes. Nuckles enjoyed a ten car lenghth lead with ten laps to go as braden challenged Edsall for second. Nuckles, in the Columbus Motor Speedway special claimed the win with Edsall second followed by Braden, Baugh, and Joey Greening.

Bryan Nuckles and Travis Braden started in the front row of the first FAST legend car heat. Nuckles held the ead briefly as the caution came out for rookie Joey Greening. On the restart Nuckles agin merged ahead but Braden tried to pass but failed  with Nukckles staying in front as again Braden tried to pass but failed as Nuckles took the win over Braden, Toby Alfrey, and James Edsal.

Kyle Baugh and Tommy Klein faced the green in the front row of the second legend heat Baugh wasted no time in taking the lead and pulling away, leaving Klein, Heath Tatman long behind as tatman took over third. At the checker it was Baugh trailed by Klein, tatman, and Chris Weddle.

The crazy compacts hit the track for their 20 lap feature with Jeff Kimes and Ivin Fugate leading the fourteen car field to the green as side by side they went as Dave Sagers stole second followed by Ron Sagers. Meanwhile former champ Tim Haerr was on the move as he took third only to see the caution come out when Dave Sagers spun on the backstretch. On the restart Kimes was still in front but Dave Sagers and Ron Sagers had their sites on former Shady Bowl champ Kimes. Ron Sagers took second away from his brother as Haerr moved up on Ron Sagers bumper as the top three ran bumper to bumper. Ron Sagers stoe the lead on turn two on lap eight as Haerr worked the inside of Sagers. Fast timer Bo Hoelscher in the meantime had advanced to third. Haerr tried desperately to gain the lead but Sagers kept shaking him off. On the white flag lap Haerr tried to pass but failed as Sagers claimed his second straight win in his Valvoline sponsored car with Haerr second in the Mahaffey's Auto Salvage car followed by Bo Hoelscher, Kimes, and Joe Hoelscher.
