Xenia, OH. (6/17) - It was Open Wheel Friday night at Kil-Kare Speedway Friday night with the American Modified Series, Buckeye Super Sprints, and USAC Ford Focus cars providing the action.

Hitting the race track first was the American Modified Series for their fifty lap feature event with third fast timer Rob Yelton and second fast timer Greg Stapleton on the front row of the twenty-five car field. At the drop of the green it was Yelton out front with fast timer Mike Sracy moving into second. Stacy went to the outside of Yelton but Yelton kept shaking him off until lap five when Stacy took the front spot

Gary Eaton moved into third dropping Stapleton back to fourth as former AMS champion Mike Carroll was up to fifth. Stacy began to weave his way through slower traffic as he put some distance over the field. It was flat out racing until lap twenty one when Ralph Harrod lost it on turn four to bring out the first caution.

The running order at this time was Stacy still in front followed by Yelton, Eaton, Stapleton, Carroll, Jim Lewis, Bill Burba, Bud Perry, Chad Poole, and Jerry Stapleton. At the drop of the green for the restart it was Stacy in the Smith's Wrecking special continuing to set the pace as again he started to pull away from the field. At the half way it still the same running order but former Kil-Kare track champ was challenging Poole for tenth with Jason Timmerman also trying to get a piece of the action.

Stacy again was in slower traffic as he weeded through the field as Mike Carroll was putting the pressure on Gary Eaton as he tried for fourth but Eaton kept shaking him off.

Claiming his first Kil-Kare AMS feature was Springfield's Mike Stacy, a long time competitor at Kil-Kare followed by Greg Stapleton in second with Rob Yelton, Gary Eaton, Mike Carroll.

The lightening fast winged sprint cars of the Buckeye Super Sprints were next for their thirty lap feature which saw Danny Brown and Joey Wyckoff in the front row and when the green flag waved it was Brown shooting into the lead with Ryan Gillenwater into second as he closed in on Brown. Gillenwater was putting the pressure on Brown as fast timer Zach Gibson passed  Gillenwater and Brown to claim the lead on lap seven. Gibson, last years winner then really poured the power to his machine as he pulled away from the field.

Talon Stephens was riding third at the half way as Gibson was lapping the field. The caution came out on lap twenty six when second place Stephens spun on turn four.

Gibson, a third generation driver proved that his fast time was no fake  as he showed the rest of the field the quick way around the track in route to the checker. Gibson had little problem staying in front to take the win followed by Gillenwater, Stephens, Tommy Kunz. and Brown.

Eleven USAC Ford Focus Midgets faced the green for a thirty lap feature with Michael May and Kyle O'Gara in the front row. May took the lead but it was Tyler Cottongin out front by lap three when the caution came out for fast timer Joe Liguori. Jimmy Simpson advanced to second when the caution came out when Michael May had a flat tire and pitted.

Up to third was Shannon McIntosh in her first appearance of the season in the midgets as she set sail for second place running Simpson but Simpson  shook he attempts off. Cottonglin put some distance over the field with Simpson gaining some distance over McIntosh who got slowed by slower traffic. Cottongin took the win followed by Simpson, McIntosh, O'Gara, and Chris Lamb.

Kil-Kare will be back in action Friday night with the popular Trailer Race of Destruction highlighting the program with the gates opening at 6 p.m. and racing at 8 p. m.
