Needham,
Honeycutt, Cox, Cotterman and Turley
Over 150 cars would post for first round eliminations on Saturday in Kil-Kare Dragway's third installment of the NHRA Summit ET bracket racing series for the 2010 season. In the Sonic Drive-In Pro division quarterfinals we would see Richard Hammonds of Riverside, Ohio dial a 4.87 to the 5.03 of J. P. Schuster from Damascus. Hammonds would be better at the tree with a .523 light, and would take the win with a 4.874 pass. Next up we would see Tim Klopfenstein from Xenia dial a 5.30 to the 5.25 of Michael Needham from Middletown. Michael would be better at the tree with a .528 light, along with a 5.254 for the breakout win. Next up would be Billy Back of New Carlisle dialing a 4.66 to the 5.12 of Terry Brassington of Dayton. Brassington this time would have the advantage with a .512 however, it would be Billy Back with a 4.674 for the round win. The final pair for the round would see Mike Sturgill of Beavercreek dialing a 4.71 to the 6.24 of Randy Stutz from Jamestown. Reaction time battle would go to Stutz, with a .508 light, along with a 6.248 pass for the win.
In the semi finals we would see Back dialing a 4.66 to the 5.25 of Needham. Needham would have the reaction time advantage with a .508. At the finish line we would see a win light right side to the 5.266 of Michael Needham. Next up would be Hammonds dialing a 4.87 to the 6.23 of Stutz. Hammonds would cut a .502 light, along with a 4.871 pass for the victory.
In the finals Hammonds would dial a 4.87 to the 5.25 of Needham. Needham would get a .516 light and run a 5.300 for the Sonic Super Pro Division Win.
In the Pro Quarterfinals we would see Randy Biddle, of Burbank dialing a 7.03 to the 5.82 of Ed Beyer from Beavercreek. Biddle would have the better light with a 5.53 to and would take the win with a 7.072. Next would be Gwayne Honeycutt of Urbana dialing a 6.25 to the 5.95 of Ben Browder from Fairborn. At the tree it would be Honeycutt with a .516 light for the advantage and would make the pass in 6.255 for the round win. Brad Day of Bowersville had the bye run to the semi finals.
In the semi is it would Biddle dialing a 7.03 against the 6.27 of Brad Day. Once again Biddle would have the advantage of with a .542 light, and would move in the finals with a 7.068 run. Gwayne had the bye into the finals.
Final action round would see Randy Biddle dial a 7.03 to the 6.24 of Gwayne Honeycutt. Randy would be better off the line with a .524, however Gwayne would bring be IDDU Art’s Transmission ride to the stripe with a 6.252 for the Pro class win.
Sportsman quarterfinals would see Rake Gladman of Columbus dialing a 12.14 to the 12.44 of Nick Hastings from Shelby. Reaction time battle would go to Hastings with a .519 light along with a 12.491 pass of the round win. Next up would be Doug Thompson of Columbus dialing 13.34 to the 17.44 of Ben Browder from Fairborn. Thompson would be better at the tree but only by .0026 one would make the pass and a 13.34 for the round win. The final pair for the round was John Cox of Tipp City dialing a 13.43 to the 13.58 of Troy Clayton from Columbus, Ohio. Got to get off the line better with a .519 light and would have the double breakout victory with a 13.395 run.
In the semi finals it would be Thompson dialing a 13.31 to the 12.42 of Hastings. Thompson would have the reaction with a .507 light, and would make the pass with a 13.327 on his way to the finals. Cox would have the bye.
In the final round Thompson once again with a 13.31 dial against the 13.35 of Cox. Cox would have be better reaction time by .0007 seconds and would .0001 off his dial with a 13.3501 for the sportsman class win.
In the Buckminn's D&D Harley-Davidson quarterfinals we would see Sam Cotterman of Tremont City dial a 10.51 to the 10.98 of Steve Withem from Fairborn Sam would have the better light with a .519, and would take the double breakout win with a 10.504 ride. Next up would be Larry Hunter of Xenia dialing a 9.39 against the 9.53 of Thad Neeld were from St. Paris. Hunter would have the better light with a .536 but it would be Thad with the win light on a 9.596 ride. Austin Stidham would have the bye.
In the semi finals it would be Stidham dialing being 9.77 to the 9.57 of Thad. Stidham would go red moving Thad to face bye runner Sam Cotterman in the finals.
In the finals Cotterman would dial a 10.51 against the 9.65 of Neeld. Cotterman would get a .519 reaction and take the double breakout win with a 10.455 ride in the Buckminn's D&D Harley-Davidson Pro bike division.
In the Muffler Brothers of Xenia Jr. Dragster quarterfinals, it would be Logan Back Of New Carlisle dialing a 13.18 against the 9.16 of Garreth Sheppeard of Springfield. Back would have be better reaction time with a .596 and would take the breakout win with a 13.207. Next would be Shelby Stacy of New Carlisle dialing a 13.33 against the 8.95 of Maggie Turley from Baltimore. Turley would be better at the tree with a .577 and would take the double breakout win with an 8.913 pass. Next up would be Mike Morris of Dayton dialing an 8.08 to the 13.00 of Emily Crum from Jamestown. Emily would go red moving Mike to the next round. Walt Crum of Beavercreek had the bye into the semi finals.
Semi action would see Back dialing a 13.17 to the 8.91 of Turley. Turley would be better at the tree with a .586 and would take the round win with a 9.077. Next would be Morris dialing an 8.12 to the 8.09 of Crum. Morris would cut a .575 but would break out, making Crum the winner.
In the finals Crum would dial an 8.07 to the 8.92 of Turley. Crum would go red moving Turley to her second victory of the 2010.
